动词是表示行为或状态的词，按其含义和功能可分四类：实义动词，连系动词，助动词，情态动词。

情态动词本身有词意，但大多无人称和数的变化；必须与其后的动词原形构成谓语，表示句子主语或说话者对动作及状态的各种情感和态度。
